Google is testing a Source preferences button that lets a user add or remove preferred publishers right from the AI Mode citations sidebar. Preferred sources launched in AI Mode in May 2026 but managing them has meant leaving the chat.

Easier source controls mean a renter could pin favorite publications when they chat with AI Mode about apartments, so earning a spot on those lists could grow in value.
