Realtor.com's September rent report shows the median asking rent across the 50 largest U.S. metros slipped 0.4% year over year to $1,694, the 38th straight month of annual declines. Bay Area tech hubs ran the other way, with San Jose up 6.0% to $3,565 and San Francisco up 4.8% to $3,057.
